What’s new: Quick Quack, Harbor Freight open in Jurupa Valley

Quick Quack Car Wash is the newest merchant to open at the Shops at Jurupa Valley.

The new shopping center has been a hot spot for residents this summer with the debut of In-N-Out, Aldi and Pollo Campero, to name a few.

Quick Quack Car Wash is celebrating its grand opening at 4:30 p.m. on July 16.

The company is offering “12 days of free car washes” during the grand opening festivities. Participants are encouraged to offer up a donation for HomeAid Inland Empire, a nonprofit working to end homelessness.  Money raised at the car wash will help HomeAid renovate its Operation SafeHouse Main Street apartments. The facility helps young adults age 18-24 get off the streets.

Harbor Freight debuts in Jurupa Valley

More new stuff for JV residents, this time for all you handy types.

Harbor Freight, the 140th in the state, opens (officially) on July 26. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m.

The discount tool merchant stocks an array of equipment in categories including automo]ve, air and power, storage, outdoor equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment and smaller hand tools.

Work begins this month on supportive housing in Beaumont

A housing community for residents who are homeless or face living without housing is breaking ground July 24 in Beaumont.

National CORE is launching work on Summit View, a 48-unit supportive housing community.

The new development will feature a garden and a host of modern amenities, according to CORE.

Eight apartments will be for residents with mobility needs, and another five will go to residents who struggle with sensory issues.

Other amenities include a community center, exercise room outdoor barbecue areas and recreational space.

Rooftop solar panels will provide energy for heating and cooling the all-electric building.

The groundbreaking ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. July 24 at 1343 E. 8th St. Riverside County and CORE officials are expected to attend.

$8 million DoT grant for e-buses in San Bernardino

San Bernardino is getting a big chunk of federal money to build out a zero-emission city bus fleet.An $8,447,217 grant from the Department of Transportation is going to the city’s public transit agency, OmniTrans, so it can buy battery-powered buses and related charging equipment. Part of the grant will go toward new jobs and internships to train a staff to keep the fleet powered up, according to Rep. Pete Aguilar’s office.Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the grants are going to 47 states to replace old buses “running on dirty, expensive fuels by delivering modern and zero-emission buses, manufactured by American workers.”

The Staybridge Suites Eastvale hotel is now open.

The hotel, which features suites with full kitchens, offers an array of amenities including a guest lounge, a fitness center, laundry facility, on-site business center, office supplies and printers for guests.

The hotel at 12509 Schleisman Road is also pet friendly, accepting cats and dogs with a nonrefundable fee of $150 per stay.

Temecula promotes 2 in Public Works

City officials in Temecula have announced several leadership changes in recent weeks.

Ron Moreno, previously assistant director of Public Works, has been promoted to director of Public Works and city engineer. Licensed as an engineer and land surveyor in California, he succeeds Patrick Thomas, who retired last week.

Matt Peters, assistant director of Community Development, has been promoted to interim director of Community Development. He oversees the city’s planning, code enforcement and building/safety divisions.

Thomas, who officially stepped down July 12, worked in the public sector for 37 years.

“We have been preparing for Patrick’s departure for several months and appreciate his mentorship to the incredible team he directed,” Temecula City Manager Aaron Adams said in a statement. “The city wishes Pat the very best in his well-deserved retirement, and we extend our gratitude for his outstanding service to the city over the last seven and a half years as Temecula’s public works director.”

Post and Jam campaign with water district wins Emmy

Post and Jam LLC and the Rancho California Water District won an Emmy Award at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ceremony held Saturday, June 15. The Pacific Southwest  chapter recognized the collaboration in the category of Public Service Announcement for their “Be a Water Hero” campaign.

“This recognition underscores our commitment to creating meaningful and impactful content that resonates with our community and promotes positive change,” said Warren Burley, president and CEO of Post and Jam. “Sharing the stage with such amazing andaccomplished individuals is gratifying.”

Post and Jam LLC in Temecula also won this year two Telly Awards and two Capio Awards for their work with various clients.
