Pallet fire in San Bernardino causes multiple power lines to fall Wednesday evening

A pallet fire near the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino on Wednesday evening caused multiple power lines to fall.

Crews responded around 6:21 p.m. to a pallet fire in the 2700 block of Yucca Avenue, according to Eric Sherwin, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

The fire had caused some power lines in the area to drop, and it threatened some commercial trucks and trailers in an adjacent lot, Sherwin said.

Firefighters were making progress extinguishing the blaze and were trying to mitigate the heat radiating from the pallets.

No injuries have been reported, and no structures have been damaged.

The pallet yard is relatively small, Sherwin said, but smoke from the fire is highly visible to anyone driving in the area.

Law enforcement was requested for traffic control in the area directly surrounding the fire, but smoke is not causing visibility issues on the 210.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
