Free girls’ soccer clinics hosted by Angel City Football Club in San Bernardino

Girls polished their soccer skills Saturday morning, Oct. 5, at a free clinic in San Bernardino.

The first session was at Lytle Creek Park. Another set of young soccer enthusiasts was set for an evening clinic at Nuñez Park. Two more sessions — all for girls between 7 and 18 years old — are scheduled for next weekend.

The trainings are being organized by San Bernardino’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department; Los Angeles’ Angel City Football Club; and the non-profit Football for Her.

Girls got tips from coaches and former professional players. In addition to soccer, they learned about mental health, building confidence and positive thinking, a news release states.

The next round, on Saturday, Oct. 12, will again include morning and evening clinics. No gear is needed, but girls should wear comfortable workout clothes and shoes in which they can run. Open-toed shoes should be avoided.

The first will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Delmann Heights Park, followed by a clinic from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Speicher Park.
