Cal State San Bernardino celebrates Día de los Muertos with art, music

The Cal State San Bernardino community gathered Saturday, Nov. 2, to celebrate Día de los Muertos and honor the memories of loved ones with food, music and art.

The event also featured games, activities, a performance by Ballet Folklorico Cultural, an auction of calaveras and an ofrenda, or altar. In addition to honoring relatives who have passed, the event raised scholarship dollars.

It was presented by the Association of Latino Faculty, Staff & Students and staged at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art on campus.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is rooted in Aztec, Mexican and Catholic traditions. It usually features joyous celebrations to help people remember and honor family members and friends who have died.
