Riverside’s Pink on Parade event will support The Pink Ribbon Place

Riverside Community Health Foundation will present Pink on Parade, its 13th annual walk in support of The Pink Ribbon Place breast cancer resource center, Oct. 26.

The event will kick off at 7:30 a.m. at Riverside’s Ryan Bonaminio Park, 5000 Tequesquite Ave., and will include a pet parade at 8 a.m., a 5K walk up Mount Rubidoux at 9 a.m. and a 1.8K family fun walk around Ryan Bonaminio Park at 9:15 a.m.

The event also features a survivor celebration with a symbolic dove release; a classic car show with prizes for best in show, best domestic classic and more; and a vendor expo with food, merchandise and activities.

“Seeing so many people unite for a cause larger than themselves fosters a foundation of compassion that helps carry survivors, patients and their families forward with hope,” Dr. Shené Bowie-Hussey, president and chief executive officer of Riverside Community Health Foundation, said in a news release. “Our foundation’s commitment to enriching the community shines brightly through this incredible event.”

The event will not only raise awareness but also raise funds to support The Pink Ribbon Place’s services offered to breast cancer patients, survivors, families and friends. including support groups, counseling, a product bank and one-on-one guidance from a health education navigator.

Participants in the rain-or-shine event are encouraged to wear pink, and pets in the Pink Pet Parade will strut their stuff in pink attire.

In the survivor celebration, participants will not only celebrate cancer survivors, but also honor those who are battling cancer and remember loved ones who have died.

The Pink Ribbon Place was established in 2006 and adopted in 2014 by the Riverside Community Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Its mission has evolved from a breast cancer focus to a broader scope of improving the quality of life for individuals and families impacted bycancer.
