Guided tours of the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa will be back starting Thursday, Sept. 5.
Hotel officials plan to introduce a first-time “Spooktacular” Halloween tour throughout October, offering guests an exclusive glimpse into the catacombs of the hotel — a subterranean area that has typically been off-limits to curious visitors.
Beginning Sept. 5, 45 minute- to one-hour tours will be offered at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The tour costs $25 per person, $15 for hotel guests.
The “Spooktacular” tour will be offered Monday through Wednesday in October, allowing guests to descend into the catacombs of the hotel. The half-hour tours will begin at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Cost is $40 per person and $30 for hotel guests. The catacomb tour is restricted to those ages 16 and up.
Previously, docents from the Mission Inn Foundation led tours at the historic hotel. But the tours were put on hold in November when the foundation sued the hotel over a lease dispute. A judge ruled in favor of the company that runs the hotel.
In a news release, hotel officials celebrated the return of the tours.
“Under the stewardship of Kelly and Duane Roberts, the property has seen extensive restorations, preserving its unique charm and historical value,” the news release read in part. “The Roberts’ dedication to maintaining the inn’s legacy is matched by their passion for sharing it with the public.”
