Riverside’s Community Settlement Association hosts Thanksgiving meal kit giveaway

Molina Healthcare of California, Community Settlement Association and the Hensel Phelps construction company recently hosted a drive-through Thanksgiving meal kit giveaway for 300 families who may otherwise have gone without a holiday meal.

The meal kits included a frozen turkey, stuffing mix, canned cranberry sauce, canned green beans, canned corn, gravy mix, boxed mashed potatoes, fresh fruit, vegetables, pumpkin pie and more.

“Molina is committed to removing barriers to critical resources and increasing access to healthy options for California families,” Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California, said in a news release. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with valued organizations like CSA and Hensel Phelps to provide Thanksgiving meals to our neighbors in Riverside and the surrounding community.”

The drive-through event was held Nov. 22 in Riverside at Community Settlement Association, which is an affiliate of Riverside Community Health Foundation.

“We are proud to partner once again with Molina and Hensel Phelps to ease the burden on families struggling to serve a holiday meal. Their partnership has been invaluable in meeting this need in our community,” Ninfa Delgado, vice president of operations and chief operating officer at Riverside Community Health Foundation, said in the news release.

“This event is truly special for the employees of Hensel Phelps,” Michelle Keyser, manager of supplier diversity in the construction group of Hensel Phelps, said in the news release. “Participating in a cultural staple like a Thanksgiving meal fosters family togetherness and we are proud to make that possible.”

Community Settlement Association, founded in 1911, provides a variety of programs in the areas of social services support, food security, civic engagement, economic development, educational advancement, health and well-being and cultural and arts enrichment.
