Photos: First look at Hangar 24’s taproom in Riverside

You can find mimosa flights in Hangar 24 Craft Brewing’s new taproom and restaurant, but not airplanes — at least not whole airplanes.

The eatery opened Sunday, Sept. 1, in Riverside’s Canyon Crest Towne Centre. Its space was formerly occupied by Romano’s Canyon Crest.

The Redlands-based craft brewery spent 10 months transforming it from a pizzeria to something that resembles a brightly lit airplane hangar with white, artfully rusted corrugated metal decorating the walls.

“We wanted it to feel bright. We wanted it livened up, but also to have a unique touch,” said vice president Brandon Montilione.

Decorations include a World War II airplane propeller and a portion of a wing from a World War I biplane, on loan from March Field Air Museum.

“We don’t have many TVs, not even our menu board, because we want people off their phones and we want people to engage with each other more,” said Montilione.

The space, however, includes a stage for live bands and has its own sound and lighting systems.

This is Hangar 24’s fourth taproom, after Redlands, Lake Havasu and Irvine. The first, across the street from Redlands Municipal Airport, is served by food trucks. The others have full kitchens.

Riverside’s menu includes burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, bowls and sharable snacks.

In addition to beer on tap, the beverage menu includes signature cocktails unique to Riverside, Montilione said.

Hangar 24 Riverside is at 5225 Canyon Crest Drive, Unit 58. Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m.1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
