The Riverside school board has appointed a new member to replace Tom Hunt, who died in June.
Jesse Tweed will join the Riverside Unified School District board after being interviewed by the board along with other candidates Tuesday, Aug. 6, district spokesperson Elizabeth Pinney-Muglia said in a Tuesday night text message.
He will serve the rest of Hunt’s term, which ends in December.
Tweed will represent Trustee Area 4, which takes in the western end of the school district, including the city’s Arlington and Ramona neighborhoods.
Tweed was among seven applicants. The others were:

Keith Nelson
Marcelle Williams
The district by late Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7, had not provided additional information on Tweed or Tuesday night’s appointment.

The candidates were interviewed during an open special school board meeting.
Hunt, 69, died in June after a battle with cancer. He was elected to the board in 2007.
A memorial for Hunt took place Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Ramona High School.
