A memorial for longtime Riverside board member Tom Hunt, who died in June, has been set for early August at Ramona High School.
Hunt, who was vice president of the Riverside school board, died Saturday, June 22, after a battle with cancer, just days before his 69th birthday.

The memorial, which will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 7, will be in the The Maxine Frost Performing Arts Center at Ramona High School, said Collette Lee, a friend of the Hunt family.
The theater was renamed in 2018 for Maxine Frost, a longtime board member who died in 2007.

Hunt was elected to the board in 2007 and represented Trustee Area 4, which takes in the western end of the school district, including the city’s Arlington and Ramona neighborhoods.
The Riverside area lost another school board member shortly after Hunt’s death, when longtime Alvord Unified School District board member Robert Schwandt, 66, died from complications of a kidney and liver transplant.
Ramona High’s choir will perform during the service and there will be several speakers from the community, Lee said.
In lieu of flowers, the family askes that people donate to the Riverside Unified School District’s memorial fund in Hunt’s name. Donations can be made by clicking here.
