Dine 909: These new restaurants have opened in Redlands, Riverside and San Bernardino

A decades-old San Bernardino KFC restaurant has closed and has been replaced with another chain restaurant.

Yoshinoya Japanese Kitchen now occupies the spot at 2007 E. Highland Ave.

Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

New in Redlands

A new Indian food restaurant has opened in Redlands.

Beyond Biryani is now open at 11221 Redlands Blvd.

The location was most recently occupied by Mexican restaurants Huicho’s Tacos and Cuca’s.

Lunch hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Dinner hours are 5-9:30 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday and 5-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Now in Riverside

A new fusion restaurant has opened in downtown Riverside.

Retro on Main — replacing Retro Taco — bills itself as a Mexican-Asian fusion restaurant, but the combinations go beyond that, incorporating other cuisines, including Italian and Peruvian.

Entreés include Chicken Milanese Alfredo, Lomo Saltado, Atlantic White Cod Congee and Birria noodle soup.

Breakfast entrées are also available.

Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday.

Happy Hour is 3-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Retro on Main is at 3744 Main St.

New pick-me-up

A new coffeehouse has opened in San Bernardino.

Bear & Kono’s Coffee Shop is now open at 424 E. Hospitality Lane, Suite B7.

In addition to a variety of coffee and tea drinks, the shop also offers a selection of sandwiches, including a hot hatch chili honey chicken sandwich, a spicy chipotle chicken sandwich and an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich.

Hours are 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Breakfast is served

A Colton taco shop will begin the new year by offering breakfast.

Starting Saturday, Jan. 4, Tacos El Callejon will offer breakfast from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Menu items include menudo rojo, chilaquiles, crepes and breakfast burritos and tortas.

Bacon, sausage, chorizo and ham are available.

Tacos El Callejon is at 1231 E. Washington St., Suite C.

Double grand opening

A combination boba shop and Louisiana-style fried chicken restaurant is hosting a grand opening from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

PixyBoba and Lickin’ Fried Chicken are at 14073 Main St., Suite 103, Hesperia.

In addition to tea and coffee drinks, PixyBoba also offers smoothies, slushes and sweets, including macarons and cream puffs.

Lickin’ Fried Chicken offers fried boneless and bone-in chicken, plus fried fish and shrimp, along with the usual sides.

The shop also offers a selection of Cajun staples, including gumbo, hush puppies and fried okra.

Guests will receive a 25% discount and a free keychain with purchase during the grand opening.

Guests who spend more than $20 can get a free plushie.

Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The new shop joins an existing PixyBoba at 15329 Palmdale Road, Suite J, Victorville.

Lucky 13

I & I Brewing is celebrating its 13th anniversary from noon-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.

Expect reggae bands, food vendors and plenty of beer, including an anniversary beer release.

If you haven’t been to La Mexicana Restaurant in Yucaipa for a while, well, it’s gonna be a little while longer.

The restaurant closed at the end of 2024 for a remodel and expansion project.

The closure is expected to last two months.

La Mexicana is at 31608 Yucaipa Blvd.
