A 23-year-old Menifee woman was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 28, on suspicion of making threats against Thompson Middle School in Murrieta, police said.
Julianna Ortgega was arrested at her home at 7:05 a.m. for making numerous threats against the school by email and through social media the day before, Lt. Jeremy Durrant said.
She threatened, in her words, “(to) shoot up the school” and warned of the school getting “blasted,” the lieutenant said.
Ortgega has no known connection to the middle school, Durrant said.
A possible motive was not known.
There were no weapons found at Oretgega’s home at the time of her arrest.
Durrant said Ortgega is on parole for making criminal threats against a different school in the area.
“We take the safety and security of our schools with the utmost seriousness and are confident this matter has been resolved,” Murrieta police said in a statement. “Regardless, we will continue to maintain an increased level of awareness at Thompson and all of the schools in our district.”
