A middle school teacher in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 14, on suspicion of molesting two children at a home in 2016, authorities said.
Wayne Conklin, 50, was suspected of charges including lewd acts upon a child, continual sexual abuse of multiple victims and dissuading a witness, according to the Murrieta Police Department.
The alleged abuse took place at a Murrieta home in 2016.
Conklin had served as a teacher in the district for 24 years, said Monica Gutierrez, a spokesperson for the school district. He was placed on unpaid administrative leave on Wednesday and is not allowed on any school district property, the district said.
His biography page on the district’s website said he had served as a teacher at Thompson Middle School.
Police did not say how Conklin knew or encountered the children he is accused of victimizing.
Murrieta police asked that anyone with information relating to the investigation to contact Detective Eric Velazquez at 951-461-6340 or evelazquez@murrietaca.gov
