A man suspected of shooting to death another man in Moreno Valley earlier this week was arrested in Pomona early Thursday morning, Aug 15.
Investigators on Wednesday developed information about Joe Miramontes Jr’s whereabouts, which led to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Laurel Avenue in Pomona, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s statement. The agency did not reveal details on what this information was.
Pomona Police were told Riverside County Sheriff’s was conducting surveillance on Laurel Avenue on Wednesday and that they had taken someone into custody on Thursday, said Aly Mejia, spokeswoman for Pomona Police.
Booking records show Miramontes, 31, of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder early Thursday morning.
He is the suspect in the Aug. 12 fatal shooting of Gilbert Ramirez, 30, of Moreno Valley in the 24000 block of Bostwick Drive.
Miramontes and Ramirez were involved in a dispute, according to Sgt. Lance Stoyer of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Miramontes allegedly shot the victim several times, then left the area, he said.
Deputies checking a report of an assault with a deadly weapon found Ramirez, who died at the scene.
Detectives did not say how they identified Miramontes as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for him.
As of Thursday, Miramontes was being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
