Families come together for arts, crafts at Moreno Valley library

What would you expect from an evening at the Moreno Valley library called Family Fun? Family fun, of course.

Each week the Moreno Valley Main Library, 25480 Alessandro Blvd., hosts Family Fun at 6 p.m. Thursdays and at 1 p.m. Saturdays. The Moreno Valley Mall Library also has a Family Fun event at 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Fun means getting a chance to participate in a creative arts and crafts project, according to the library’s website. The program offers activities. “The kids really like making slime,” said Maria Sunio, director of library services, “they have also made pinwheels.”

Robbie Torres hosts the Main Library program.

“I get a lot of my arts and craft ideas from Pinterest or other online sites or from my imagination,” Torres said, “sometimes I even have dreams about some of these crafts. What I do is I start with a craft and then I add to it and experiment to make it pop a little bit more.”

Torres really enjoys working with the kids and “this is a wonderful opportunity to get them away from their tablets and refine their gross motor skills.”

Gabby Garcia, the mother of a 1-year old and a 3-year-old, who was at Thursday night’s Family Fun event at the Main Library said it really is for all ages.

“We like coming and hanging out with the community and meeting more people who like having fun as a family,” she said.

Space is limited so visitors are encouraged to call the Main Library at 951-413-3880 to register, or register in person at the library, 25480 Alessandro Blvd.
