Dutch Bros, an Oregon-based coffee chain known for its sugary and caffeinated concoctions and enthusiastic “Broistas,” opened its first drive-thru in Moreno Valley at 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12.
The stand-alone drive-thru is north of the 60 Freeway at 23140 Hemlock Ave., across the street from In-N-Out Burger off Pigeon Pass Road.
Hours will be 5 a.m.10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to Dutch Bros’ website.
Anticipation had been growing in the city in recent days. “Come join the celebration and fuel your day with their amazing drinks,” Mayor Ulises Cabrera suggested in a YouTube reel uploaded Tuesday. Other Facebook posts showed lines forming at the drive-thru shortly after opening.
When asked about the status of this drive-thru and another upcoming drive-thru in Hemet in mid-August, Dutch Bros representatives described them as in “early stages.” Friday afternoon, representatives acknowledged that the Moreno Valley location had opened but continued to describe three other drive-thrus in the works for Riverside and San Bernardino counties as still in the early stages.
Two more drive-thrus planned for the city of Riverside recently cleared its planning commission. The city does not yet have a Dutch Bros.
