Driver injured when car slams into Moreno Valley home, causing substantial damage

A car plowed into a house at a Moreno Valley intersection Thursday, injuring the driver and causing major damage to the structure.

The crash was reported at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on the 10500 block of Village Road, at the corner of Sunnymead Ranch Parkway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency’s Station No. 48 is located across the street from the single-story residence, and firefighters deployed to the scene within a couple of minutes.

Crews found the car partially inside the front of the house, near the garage, visibly damaging water pipes and electrical lines, according to officials at the scene.

The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment.

There was no indication anyone inside the property was hurt.

SoCal Gas Co. technicians were called to the location due to concerns about possible impacts to natural gas lines outside the home. Moreno Valley Building Department inspectors were also summoned to gauge the structural integrity of the residence in the wake of the damage.

Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the cause of the crash.
