Hemet’s Harmoneers Chorale invites singers to join group for new season

The Hemet-based Harmoneers Chorale invites singers to join the group for the 2024-25 season.

The Harmoneers Chorale, founded in 1977 and directed by Mary Ellen Van Ostenbridge, presents two concerts each season, one in December and one in May, on Sunday afternoons at the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet.

The chorale’s repertoire has included Broadway show tunes, patriotic music and Americana, spirituals and other types of music.

The group also awards at least one vocal music scholarship each year to area high school seniors.

This year, the chorale’s scholarship went to Kathleen Underhill, who graduated this spring from Hemet High School, according to a news release. Phil Martinez, president of the Harmoneers Chorale, presented the scholarship at the chorale’s May 19 concert.

Following a summer break, the chorale will begin rehearsals Aug. 19 for its Dec. 8 concert. Rehearsals will continue 9:15 a.m.-noon every Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet, 515 E. Kimball Ave.

Singers interested in joining the Harmoneers Chorale may send an email to harmoneerschorale@gmail.com or go to harmoneereschorale.com to schedule an audition.

Annual dues for the group are $40.
