Gibbel fire burns 15 acres in Hemet

A fire in Hemet Thursday evening quickly burned 15 acres as fire departments worked to contain the spread, according to reports.

The Gibbel fire was first reported at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 when it began as a small vegetation fire, according to nonprofit fire tracking app Watch Duty.

Five additional engines have been requested from Cal Fire, according to Watch Duty.

Much of the region has been under threat of wildfires due to dry, windy conditions.
