Fig fire in Murrieta spreads from a structure to vegetation, prompting some evacuation orders

A structure fire that began in the 41000 block of Fig Street in Murrieta spread to nearby vegetation, prompting evacuation warnings and orders on Thursday, Jan. 23 evening, according to Murrieta Fire and Rescue. By 7:45 p.m., firefighters had stopped forward progress, but emergency crews remained in the area.

Evacuation orders were issued for the area west of the I-15/Temecula Valley Freeway to Jefferson Street from Guava Street to the French Valley Parkway. Areas north of Western Bypass, Washington Avenue and Guava Street received an evacuation warning.

Murrieta Fire and Rescue asked that people avoid the area and not fly drones over the area as the agency responds to the fire.
