SAN JACINTO — Riverside County sheriff’s investigators Tuesday were seeking the public’s help locating a man possibly involved in a fatal attack on another man and a teenager in San Jacinto.
Jonathen Elijah Amezola of Corona is a person of interest in the Jan. 12 shooting, according to the sheriff’s department.
The agency posted Amezola’s picture and description on its social media channels, saying only that he had been connected to the deadly attack in a neighborhood, where patrol deputies were called to investigate a firearm assault. Officials previously said it happened in the 1800 block of Normandy Court.
When they arrived, they discovered a man mortally wounded in front of a property. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
A possible motive was not provided.
That same night, a boy, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, walked into a regional trauma center for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound that detectives later learned was a result of being in the line of fire where the man had been gunned down, according to authorities.
Amezola was described as 5-feet-8 inches tall, 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Photos show him sporting a goatee.
Background information on Amezola was unavailable.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to contact investigators at 951-955-1094.
