Moreno Valley appoints Brian Mohan as city manager

Moreno Valley has a new city manager.

The City Council unanimously appointed Brian Mohan Tuesday, Jan. 7, to lead the city’s administrative team following the December retirement of former City Manager Mike Lee.

“We are excited to have Brian step into this critical role,” Mayor Ulises Cabrera said in a news release on Friday, Jan. 10.

“His background in municipal finance and his proven track record of leadership will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead,” Cabrera added.

Mohan officially started the role on Wednesday, Jan. 8, after his predecessor retired two weeks prior.

Mohan will earn $305,000, according to the employment agreement.

Mohan was acting assistant city manager in Moreno Valley in February 2021 and then held the role of assistant city manager from May 2021 to Lee’s retirement. Prior to that, he served more than 10 years in the city of Rialto.

“I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to serve as city manager for Moreno Valley, and I am excited to continue to work alongside the community and our dedicated team to foster growth and innovation,” Mohan said in the same news release. “Together, we will strive to continue making Moreno Valley a model of progress and prosperity.”
