In addition to its work to provide affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity Riverside has a program that builds playhouses for children.
The miniature replica houses built through Habitat for Humanity’s Playhouse Builds program are donated to local children’s centers, churches and private educational facilities.
The program is sponsored by groups, corporations or individuals who volunteer resources and time to build and then designate a recipient of their choice to receive the playhouse donation.
Bourns Inc., a Habitat for Humanity Riverside community partner, recently sponsored a Playhouse Build, with Bourns staff volunteering a few hours to help build a playhouse that was donated to Cornerstone Fellowship Bible Church, which is adjacent to the Bourns facility in Riverside.
The Bourns volunteers also chose a theme for the playhouse, which is painted with lollipops, ice cream, candy, flowers and more.
“This playhouse is a perfect addition, transforming a modest children’s learning environment with a small collection of toys into a more vibrant and imaginative space,” Jonathan Diemel, the church’s director of operations, said in a news release.
“Thanks to the dedication and vision of Habitat for Humanity Riverside, this playhouse will have a lasting impact on our church family. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Bourns team for their creativity, craftsmanship and generosity in selecting Cornerstone Fellowship Bible Church as the recipient of this thoughtful gift,” Diemel said.
