San Jacinto Valley residents saluted veterans in a Monday, Nov. 11, ceremony.
On Veterans Day, guests honored those who have served their country with an event featuring speeches, music and recognitions. The city of San Jacinto and Golden Era Productions hosted the commemoration at Golden Era Golf Course near San Jacinto.
Lester Fountain, chaplain of the San Jacinto American Legion, called it “a truly meaningful ceremony,” according to a news release.
The ceremony included an aerobatic flyover, speeches and performances by the San Jacinto Valley Academy High School Choir, the San Jacinto High School Jr. ROTC and Hemet High School’s jazz band.
“We are incredibly proud to honor our veterans today and every day,” San Jacinto Mayor Phil Ayala said, according to the release. “The performances and tributes were a beautiful representation of the dedication, talent and respect that our community has for the brave men and women who have served.”
Ayala honored the spouses of 11 local veterans.
The event also featured remarks from Riverside attorney Virginia Blumenthal and retired Riverside County Judge Mark Johnson, a veteran who wrote the new book, “Scars and Strife.”
