Kids learn about, enjoy fruits, vegetables at Riverside’s Twinhill Elementary School

A farmers market-style event at a Riverside school served at least two purposes.

It gave students at Twinhill Elementary School the chance to eat fruits and vegetables. And it celebrated the 10th anniversary of a program aimed at getting fresh meals to campuses.

The Friday, Oct. 18, event marked Farm to School Month. It was a partnership with the Center for Ecoliteracy’s California Food for California Kids Network, which turns 10 this year, a news release states. The program supports schools and helps them serve more fresh and local meals as well as to educate youths about good foods, according to the release.
