How can the school district best meet the needs of all students, including those learning English, those who need mental health service, those in special education programs and those from low-income backgrounds?

While there has been significant strides in addressing the needs of our diverse student populations, continuous evaluation and improvement are crucial. We must stay dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their background, needs or circumstances, have the opportunity to succeed.

Some school districts have adopted transgender notification policies to notify parents if a student says they are transgender. If your district has such a policy, do you support or oppose it? Why? If yours does not, would you support or oppose such rules? Why?

No answer

What is the biggest issue the school district faces, and how would you address it?

One of the most urgent challenges in public education today is the disparity in resources and opportunities across schools and districts. This inequity can greatly affect student outcomes and limit the potential of many young learners. To address this, I would advocate for equitable funding, increased support for teachers, personalized support for students, and active involvement from both the community and parents.

Why would you make a good leader, and how would you represent the diverse communities within the school district?

I am deeply committed to enhancing our educational system and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive. Our schools are the cornerstone of the community, and by prioritizing strong academic programs, supportive environments for both students and educators, and the effective use of resources, we can create lasting change. In a diverse district like Val Verde, providing equitable and inclusive education for every student is a challenging but essential responsibility. While VVUSD has made significant progress in addressing the needs of various student populations, there is always room for growth. As a candidate, my goals are to foster open communication between the school board, parents, and teachers; advocate for policies that support student well-being and academic success; and ensure our schools are equipped to meet the evolving needs of our diverse students. I am excited by the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective and collaborate with other board members to make our schools the best they can be.
