Man suspected of killing sister in Riverside is arrested

A man suspected of shooting his sister to death in Riverside on Wednesday was arrested Friday morning, Sept. 13, the Riverside Police Department said.

The victim, Adrienne Johnson, 45, was leaving her place of work on the 6900 block of Jurupa Avenue just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, Officer Ryan Railsback said. She was getting into her car when the suspect, later identified as her brother David Johnson, 51, pulled his car up behind her. He fired several shots at her, killing her at the scene, police said.

Johnson drove away from the scene, evading police until he was arrested on Phoenix Avenue in Riverside, police said. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder, and was being held without bail.

The motive for the killing was not known, police said.
