Connectors from the northbound 91 Freeway to the 71 Freeway in Corona will be closed overnight in both directions Friday, Sept. 6.
Crews will be removing overhead signs above the northbound 71, the Riverside County Transportation Commission has announced.
The closures result from the 71/91 Interchange Project, a plan to improve traffic congestion between Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties, a commission news release states.
Vehicles won’t be able to access the freeways from either direction.
The westbound connector will shut down from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The eastbound connector will closed from midnight to 7 a.m. Saturday, the release states.
Transportation officials suggest that drivers take other routes, such as the northbound 15 Freeway or to use the northbound 57 to reach the 60 Freeway.
Drivers traveling to destinations along the 71 such as Chino, Chino Hills and Pomona are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the 71/91 interchange.
The connectors from the southbound 71 to the eastbound and westbound 91 will be open.

A full weekend closure took place Friday, Aug. 16, so workers could grade soil, remove pavement, pour concrete and stripe a portion of the newly aligned southbound 71 lanes.
The $137-million project is replacing the single-lane loop connector between the eastbound 91 and the northbound 71 with a new, two-lane connector ramp, commission officials said.
The project is on schedule to open in 2025, officials said.
