A reportedly armed 54-year-old man was shot to death by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies at the end of a pursuit in San Bernardino early Saturday, Aug. 10, the department said.
Albert William Park had multiple firearms-related convictions, Superior Court records show.
Deputies first noticed Park around 1:10 a.m. when he committed a vehicle code violation on his motorcycle at North Leroy Street and 23rd Street, a news release said. They tried to pull him over, but he drove away.
“Park drove to a residence in the 2000 block of North Sierra Way, abandoned the motorcycle and ran to the porch of the residence. Park was in possession of a loaded handgun. When deputies contacted Park, a lethal force encounter occurred,” the release said.
Park was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No additional details on the confrontation, such as whether Park held or pointed the gun, were available Monday, said Mara Rodriguez, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
No deputies were reported injured.

In March 2023, Park pleaded no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm, Superior Court records show. That sentence, 1 year and four months, ran consecutively to a sentence of 2 years and eight months imposed at the same time for a no-contest plea to a charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Park was sentenced to 180 days in jail in 2017 for violating Post Release Community Supervision. He was convicted of possession of dangerous drugs in 2005 and armed robbery in 1998, court records show.
