Hemet group plans two fentanyl awareness events

A Hemet-based nonprofit group plans two events to spotlight the dangers of fentanyl.

Out of the Ashes Organization has scheduled a Wednesday, Aug. 21, event to coincide with National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

It also has set a baseball night at the Saturday, Aug. 31, Lake Elsinore Storm game for International Overdose Awareness Day

The group, led by President and CEO Amber Royer, works to increase education on the risks associated with fentanyl and other drugs. It offers awareness and education classes, workbooks and presentations for children and young adults and billboards with messages. The group staged a memorial walk through Hemet in May.
