The closures, which started Monday night, Aug. 5, will allow contractors to work on asphalt paving through Friday, Aug. 9.

From Tuesday, Aug. 6, through Thursday, Aug. 8, two northbound lanes will be closed on the 15 Freeway northbound between Temecula Parkway and Rancho California Road from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the next morning. The Temecula Parkway and Rancho California Road off-ramps will also be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on these days.

On Friday, Aug. 9, two northbound lanes will be closed on the 15 between Temecula Parkway and Rancho California Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. The Temecula Parkway and Rancho California Road off-ramps will also be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.

The traffic restrictions are part of the I-15 Northbound Auxiliary Lane Project, a plan to alleviate congestion on the 15 by giving drivers easier access to enter and exit the freeway smoothly.

The project is building a new lane, about 1 mile long, that will be added to the northbound section of the 15 between the Temecula Parkway on-ramp and the Rancho California Road off-ramp. It will be a fifth lane to connect the two ramps. Of the $138.8 million project budget, the I-15 Northbound Auxiliary Lane Project will cost $4.4 million, a Temecula construction alert states.

During this week’s work, the northbound off-ramp closure on Rancho California Road will include a detour that can be taken by continuing on the freeway, exiting at Winchester Road, turning right and continuing through to Ynez Road.

The Temecula Parkway on-ramp closure will have a detour allowing traffic to continue on Temecula Parkway, go right at Old Town Front Street and eventually get back on the 15 Freeway.

Construction is scheduled through October.
