Dine 909: New eateries open in Calimesa, Eastvale, Oak Glen and Rancho Cucamonga

Sammy’s Café has opened in Calimesa.

It replaces a former Bob’s Big Boy at 540 Sandalwood Drive that closed during the pandemic.

Hours are 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

The new location joins ones in Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Rialto and Claremont, which if memory serves, is also a former Bob’s Big Boy.

Now open in Oak Glen

Klüddes’ third location, dubbed Klüddes Cast Iron, has opened in Oak Glen.

The restaurant is located in Parrish Pioneer Ranch at 38561 Oak Glen Road.

Hours are 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The new location joins Klüddes Kitchen + Bar in Redlands and Klüddes Smokehouse + Saloon in Yucaipa.

New in Rancho Cucamonga

A new Chinese restaurant has opened near the Haven City Market food hall in Rancho Cucamonga.

SH Wonton is at 8409 Haven Ave.

The restaurant specializes in Shanghai-style chicken soup and cold wontons.

Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

New in Eastvale

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream’s newest location opens Thursday, July 18, in Eastvale.

The new location, 12648 Limonite Ave., joins a recently-opened location in Riverside’s Canyon Crest Towne Centre as well as locations in Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Temecula, Palm Desert, La Quinta and Indio.

Reopening in Redlands

Don Orange is celebrating its reopening and a “new era of Don Orange” following a recent remodel and a change of ownership.

The festivities kick off at 4 p.m. Friday, July 19, with a ribbon cutting, followed by live mariachi music and fire performers.

A DJ will play throughout the night.

Saturday, July 20, will start with brunch service from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

A DJ will perform for an afterparty beginning at 8 p.m.

Don Orange is at 14 E State St., Redlands.

Anniversary deal

Rodrigo’s Mexican Grill is celebrating its 52nd anniversary with a special on Wednesday, July 24.

On that day, guests can purchase a two-item combo for $9.72.

The deal is valid for dine-in only.

Inland Empire locations include Riverside, Temecula, Corona and Montclair.

Sonic’s new value menu

Sonic Drive-In has launched a new value menu, with items priced at $1.99.

Menu items include the quarter pound double cheeseburger, chili cheese coney, bacon ranch queso wrap, southwest crunch queso wrap, small tots and 12 flavors of small shakes.

The new value menu is reportedly a permanent addition.

On the move

The Chuck Wagon Bar & Grill, formerly at 1353 W. Sixth St., Corona, has closed.

The property that housed the eatery has been sold, so it’s been forced to move.

Sorry, we’re closed

During a recent visit to Redlands, I spotted a humongous “For Lease” sign in front of the former Dhat Island.

It turns out the restaurant — which began in Redlands, moved to Rancho Mirage and returned to Redlands — closed a few months back.

The owners have posted a thank you to its customers for 15 years of patronage on the restaurant’s website.

The family still owns Beignet Spot in downtown Riverside.
