The Riverside County Registrar of Voters on Thursday, June 20, posted the final certified results of the Tuesday, June 4, recall election.

In the end, 51.09% of voters chose to oust Komrosky, while 48.91% voted to keep him in office. The election had a 45.01% turnout, with just under 10,000 ballots returned.

The recall was approved by 212 votes, with 4,963 voting yes and 4,751 voting no.

In a Thursday email, Komrosky doubled down on his statement at the June 11 Temecula Valley Unified School District board meeting, when he thanked supporters and said he would look to run again in the November election.

“If I am recalled as a trustee from TVUSD, given the narrow margin, I will likely run again in the November 2024 General Election,” Komrosky wrote. “If not, it has been an honor to serve the Temecula community, and I am proud to have fulfilled all of my campaign promises as an elected official. My commitment to protecting the innocence of our children in Temecula schools remains unwavering.”

Jeff Pack, the founder of One Temecula Valley PAC, which spearheaded the recall, said the group had just started and the recall of Komrosky was one step in making “Temecula boring again.”

“THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. It’s official,” Pack wrote Thursday in a Facebook post.

In previous posts, Pack said that the recall of Komrosky was not about bipartisan politics but about removing bad governance.

County officials are researching whether Komrosky, who represented Trustee Area 4, can run again in the upcoming election, Elizabeth Florer, a spokesperson for the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, said in a Thursday email.

The remaining three board members have not decided how to fill the empty seat. A special election or appointing someone to replace Komrosky are possibilities.

Board members Allison Barclay and Steven Schwartz are also up for election in November.

Komrosky, a Christian conservative who was elected in November 2022, was targeted by critics who said his words and actions were divisive.

They also opposed actions taken by Komrosky and the then-conservative board majority, such as banning critical race theory and approving a policy requiring parents to be told if their child identifies as transgender. Supporters said Komrosky kept his promise to restore parental rights and protect children from pornography and liberal indoctrination.

Trustee Area 4 includes locations between Temecula Parkway and Rancho California Road and extends into Temecula Valley Wine Country.

The last day to request a recount is Tuesday, June 25, by 5 p.m.
